Royal College of Midwives Conference Competition.

Sutherland Health and Lansinoh run a joint competition at the Royal College of Midwives 2014 Conference.

Community midwife at University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust wins a lucky delivery from Lansinoh and Sutherland Health Group Plc.

On the 11th and 12th of November 2014, Sutherland Health Group Plc exhibited at the Royal College of Midwives annual conference where over 1000 professional and student midwives1 came together to debate the latest issues within the maternity sector and to view innovative products from healthcare companies.  During the conference Sutherland Health Group Plc and Lansinoh (the breastfeeding experts) ran a joint competition offering the chance to win a Biston® Point of Care Bag and a full range of Lansinoh breastfeeding equipment.
The prize was of special interest to midwives working in the community. The Biston® Point of Care Bag has been ergonomically designed to evenly spread the weight of heavy medical equipment and therefore helping to reduce the risk of injury. The bag has also been designed to provide a completely customisable equipment storage system for use during home visits and appointments. This helps ensure the vital work that community midwives perform on a daily basis is carried out safely and efficiently.
Katie Hilton, Healthcare Professional Associate from Lansinoh (who is also a midwife, health visitor and qualified lactation consultant) said; ‘Having worked myself, for many years in the sector I knew that this prize could be a huge benefit to a midwife like myself. I know that we want to offer the best care to each and every mother and having all the equipment in easy reach could make a small part of our role slightly easier. At Lansinoh, we are working towards empowering midwifes in as many ways as possible be that through breastfeeding equipment, breastfeeding education or sampling of some of our breastfeeding products. We hope Theresa and her colleagues benefit from this prize & we’re delighted to congratulate her on winning the Biston Bag.’
Over 200 midwives entered the competition and the randomly selected winner is Theresa Greenwood, a community midwife from University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM), where over 4,000 babies are delivered every year at Wythenshawe Hospital.2  The prize was presented to Theresa and her senior managers at UHSM on Wednesday 17th December.
